JAMBOREE DAY 2

Most of our scouts spent Tuesday exploring the jamboree site. Since it is over 3 miles from our troop site on the north side of the jamboree to the south side there is a lot to see. We have the first arena show in the morning.

Patch trading is a major activity for many of our scouts. But they still found time to visit the activity areas today.

JAMBOREE DAY 3

Day 3 started early as we woke up at 5:30 AM so we would be ready to depart sub camp 15 for the arena at 7 AM with the almost 2,000 fellow camps in our sub camp. Moving 44,000 scouts down Thomas Road and into the arena in an orderly fashion requires a lot of planning and coordination.

The opening arena show was spectacular. Secretary of Defense Bob Gates was the Guest speaker. Gates is an Eagle and former president of the Natl. Eagle Scout Assoc. We had an F-16 fly by, sky diving hot air balloons, army artillery and "Miss America".

The temperature today was 96 with a heat index of 104, just like home!
