This October, trick-or-treat for a cause. Sight Night, organized around trick-or-treat in your community puts a unique twist on collecting eyeglasses. This is a fun event for your unit to collect eyeglasses and to work with other community groups (Girls Scouts, Lions clubs, Lenscrafters Associates and others) on the collection.

Sight Night is a nationwide eyeglass collection effort and part of Give the Gift of Sight, a family of charitable vision care programs sponsored by Give the Gift of Sight Foundation and Lions Clubs International.

How can you help?

Volunteers are needed to "scare up" used eyeglasses. Collect all sizes, shapes and colors of used eyeglasses, sunglasses and non-prescription sunglasses for children and adults.

What is done with the collected eyeglasses?

Used eyeglasses collected on Sight Night will be cleaned, repaired, classified by prescription and hand-delivered to people in need in developing countries such as Bolivia, Tunisia and Mexico.

Each year, volunteers from Lions Clubs International and Give the Gift of Sight travel to developing countries to provide eye exams and recycled eyeglasses to thousands of people who otherwise wouldn't have access to eye care. The eyeglasses your unit collects on Sight Night may help a first grader in Bolivia see the chalkboard, or allow a woman in Mexico to see the sewing needle clearly to make her family's clothing.
